Brighton & Hove Albion secured back-to-back Premier League wins for the first time since November with a 2-1 victory over Nottingham Forest at the American Express Stadium on Sunday.

The game burst into life early, producing three goals inside the opening 15 minutes.

Brighton went ahead in the sixth minute when Diego Gómez fired an angled effort past the goalkeeper after being picked out inside the area.

Forest responded seven minutes later as Morgan Gibbs-White drilled home from the edge of the box to level the score.

But parity lasted just 105 seconds. Danny Welbeck restored Brighton’s lead in the 15th minute with a clever turn and composed finish to register his 10th league goal of the season.

The strike places the 33-year-old among a select group of players to score 10 or more Premier League goals in consecutive campaigns at his age.

Brighton controlled much of the contest after the frantic start and created further chances to extend their advantage, while Forest struggled to carve out clear openings.

The visitors came close late on, but substitute Taiwo Awoniyi headed wide when well placed.

The win lifts Brighton to 11th in the table, three points behind eighth-placed Everton, easing pressure on manager Fabian Hurzeler.
