Falcons fail to break Cameroon’s defence in friendly loss

Nigeria slowly gained more control of the game but found it difficult to break through Cameroon’s solid defence.

The Super Falcons of Nigeria lost 1-0 to Cameroon in an international friendly match played on Saturday at the Stade Militaire in Yaoundé.

Goalkeeper Comfort Erhabor and forward Precious Christopher made their senior debuts for Nigeria in the match. Erhabor, who plays for Portsmouth FC Women, started in goal and made several important saves to keep Nigeria in the game.

Head coach Justine Madugu selected a strong team, with captain Rasheedat Ajibade leading the attack from midfield.
Both teams started the match carefully, keeping possession but creating very few chances.

Nigeria slowly gained more control of the game but found it difficult to break through Cameroon’s solid defence.

The first half ended 0-0.
In the second half, Nigeria continued to push forward in search of a goal.

In the 64th minute, Madugu made changes to strengthen the attack. Ngozi Okobi and Omorinsola Babajide were replaced by debutant Precious Christopher and Folashade Ijamilusi to add more speed and creativity.

However, despite their efforts, the Super Falcons could not find an equaliser and eventually lost the match 1-0.
