The U.S. Department of State has released a joint statement with six Middle Eastern governments condemning what they described as “indiscriminate and reckless” missile and drone attacks launched by the Islamic Republic of Iran across several countries in the region.
In the statement issued on Monday, the United States joined Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates in denouncing the strikes, which they said targeted sovereign territories and endangered civilian populations.
The governments accused Iran of carrying out attacks against multiple states, including Bahrain, Iraq, including the Iraqi Kurdistan Region, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.
According to the statement, the strikes damaged civilian infrastructure and posed risks to non-combatants.
Describing the actions as a “dangerous escalation,” the seven governments said the attacks violated the sovereignty of multiple nations and threatened regional stability. They also faulted Tehran for targeting civilians and countries “not engaged in hostilities,” calling such conduct reckless and destabilising.
The joint statement reaffirmed the countries’ commitment to defending their citizens and territories, underscoring what they described as their right to self-defence in response to the attacks.
The signatories further pledged continued cooperation on regional security, noting that coordinated air and missile defence efforts had helped prevent greater loss of life and destruction.
The statement was issued by the Office of the Spokesperson of the U.S. State Department under the heading “Joint Statement on Iran’s Missile and Drone Attacks in the Region.”
