Gov. Yusuf’s ex-commissioner emerges chairman of Kano APC

The immediate past commissioner for Water Resources in Kano, Haruna Doguwa, has emerged as the new chairman of the state chapter of All Progressives Congress, APC.
Doguwa, a key ally of Governor Abba Yusuf who some weeks ago dumped the New Nigeria’s Peoples Party, NNPP to join the APC was elected in an election which took place on Tuesday night.
Doguwa had recently resigned from his position as Commissioner for Water Resources in Kano State to contest for the party’s top seat at the state Congress of APC held in the early hours of Wednesday at the Indoor Hall of Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano.
Other elected officials include Salisu Maje-Gwangwazo as Deputy Chairman, Prof. Yusuf Sabo-Bichi as State Secretary, and Fatima Dala as State Woman Leader.

Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau congratulated the newly elected Kano APC executives.
He wished them a successful tenure as they steer the affairs of the APC to greater heights and victories.
“I also commend the State Governor, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf and all other stakeholders of our party for the orderly and peaceful conduct of the exercise, which was devoid of rancour and acrimony.
“I thank the over 2,400 delegates drawn from the 44 Local Government Areas of our state for their discipline, unity, and commitment throughout the process.
“With the successful conclusion of the congresses at the ward, local government, and now state levels, we are, by Allah’s grace, well prepared for the 2027 elections. Victory will be ours at all levels, as the good people of Kano State remain solidly behind us,” Barau said.
