The TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) 2026 has been postponed, the Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) announced on Thursday.

CAF had earlier awarded Morocco the hosting rights for the tournament in October 2024, with the competition originally scheduled to hold from 17 March to 3 April 2026.

However, after discussions with partners including FIFA and other stakeholders, CAF decided to move the tournament to 25 July – 16 August 2026.

The African football governing body said the change was necessary to ensure the success of the tournament following unforeseen circumstances.

Despite the postponement, CAF said preparations for the competition are ongoing and expressed confidence that the tournament will be successful.

The Women’s Africa Cup of Nations remains Africa’s premier women’s football competition, bringing together the continent’s top national teams to battle for the title.
