The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) said it has secured conviction of 35 out of the 44 motorists apprehended during special enforcement operations within the Anambra Sector Command’s operational corridor for violation of traffic laws in Awka, the state capital.

The motorists were convicted by a Mobile Court at the FRSC Sector Command Headquarters in Awka, FRSC Anambra Sector Public Education Officer, Mrs Margaret Onabe, said.

According to her, nine of those arrested were discharged and acquitted by the court.

She said that 72 traffic offences were recorded during the special enforcement operation and include seatbelt and driver’s licence violations.

Others are speed limit device violation, overloading, tyre violation, vehicle licence violation, number plate violation, and related traffic offences.

Onabe explained that the exercise formed part of the corps’ sustained enforcement strategy aimed at reducing road traffic crashes through strict compliance with traffic regulations and operational visibility across the state.
