UCL: Osimhen tops Player of the Match rankings

Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has climbed to the top of the Player of the Match standings in the UEFA Champions League after a string of outstanding performances for Galatasaray S.K. this season.

According to a post shared by UEFA on X on Tuesday, the Super Eagles forward currently leads the leaderboard with four Man of the Match awards, the highest by any player in the competition so far.

Osimhen’s latest recognition followed his standout performance against Juventus F.C., where he scored a crucial goal to help Galatasaray seal a dramatic 7–5 aggregate victory and book a place in the Round of 16.

He has been in superb form throughout the Champions League campaign, scoring seven goals in eight appearances.

His pace, aerial strength and relentless pressing have been key to Galatasaray’s impressive run in Europe this season.

Osimhen currently sits ahead of some of Europe’s biggest stars in the rankings, including Kylian Mbappé, Harry Kane and Erling Haaland.

The 27-year-old joined Galatasaray on a permanent transfer from S.S.C. Napoli last summer, and he has quickly become the focal point of the Turkish champions’ attack.

With the knockout stages now underway, Osimhen will be aiming to maintain his scoring form as Galatasaray push to go deeper in the Champions League.
