Detective Chief Superintendent Christina Jessah, who oversees policing in central west London, condemned the officer’s conduct, saying it fell far below the standards expected of serving police personnel.

A Metropolitan Police officer has been dismissed from the force after admitting to sexually assaulting a woman at a pub in central London.

The officer, PC Jason Capery, attached to the Central West Basic Command Unit, was found to have breached the police standards of professional behaviour during a misconduct hearing held on Tuesday, March 10.

The panel heard that Capery acted inappropriately towards a woman known to him while he was off duty at a pub in Marylebone.

The misconduct proceedings followed his earlier conviction at Westminster Magistrates’ Court, where he pleaded guilty on February 4 to sexual assault by touching.

The court later sentenced him on March 6 to a 12-month community order and ordered him to pay £199 in court costs.

Following the conviction and internal disciplinary process, the Metropolitan Police confirmed that Capery had been dismissed from the service.

Detective Chief Superintendent Christina Jessah, who oversees policing in central west London, condemned the officer’s conduct, saying it fell far below the standards expected of serving police personnel.

She said women should feel safe in London and stressed that officers must maintain professional conduct at all times.

Jessah added that the force remained committed to removing officers whose behaviour fails to meet required standards.

“We are working hard to ensure that anyone who does not meet these standards is removed from the force,” she said.
