However, Donyamali said there is no chance Iran will travel to the United States to play in the tournament.

Iran has announced that it will not participate in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The country’s Sports Minister, Ahmad Donyamali, said Iran will not take part in the tournament this summer.

He explained that the decision was made after attacks by the United States and Israel that reportedly led to the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei.

The conflict in the Middle East has grown, with Iran responding by attacking U.S. military bases in the region.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be held in United States, Canada, and Mexico from June to July.

Iran was supposed to play matches against New Zealand and Belgium in Los Angeles on June 15 and June 21. Their final group match against Egypt was scheduled for June 26 in Seattle.

However, Donyamali said there is no chance Iran will travel to the United States to play in the tournament.

He said that after their leader was assassinated, Iran cannot participate in the World Cup under the current conditions.
