Again, NELFUND extends student loan application deadline

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has extended the deadline for student loan applications for the 2025/2026 academic session.

This extension is only for schools that asked for more time so their students can finish applying for the loan.

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Akintunde Sawyerr announced this in a statement on Thursday.

He explained that the extension applies only to institutions that officially requested extra time from Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND).

According to him, the organisation wants to make sure that all eligible Nigerian students have the chance to apply for the student loan programme.

He encouraged students in the affected institutions to use the extra time to complete their applications on the official NELFUND student loan portal.

NELFUND also repeated its promise to operate with transparency and accountability while providing sustainable financial support to help students overcome financial challenges in accessing higher education in Nigeria.
