“We’re not aware,” ADC reacts to alleged suspension of Senator Ireti Kingibe

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has dismissed claim that Senator Ireti Kingibe, the Senator representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has been suspended.

Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the National Publicity Secretary of ADC said this in a statement on Thursday.

The statement was issued in response to announcement by a ward Chapter of ADC in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) that Senator Kingibe has been suspended indefinitely.

FCT Wuse Ward ADC Chairman, Kanayo Chukwu announced this during a meeting attended by party executive members on Thursday.

He said the FCT senator was suspended because of her anti-party activities, insubordination and violation of party rules.

According to Chukwu, the decision to suspend Kingibe was taken at a meeting of the ADC Ward executives where her matter was discussed.

But Abdullahi countered the claim noting that as a law-abiding political party, the ADC has clear constitutional procedures for addressing any allegations involving its members.

The ADC National Publicity Secretary said such matters are handled through established internal mechanisms, not through press statements.

“We therefore urge the public and the media to disregard the reports suggesting that Senator Ireti Kingibe has been suspended by the party, as they are false and misleading”

Senator Kingibe, who was elected on the platform of Labour Party is one of the senators formally defected to the ADC at the senate plenary on Thursday.
