Rashford’s Barcelona future uncertain as club eyes Chelsea star

Bayern Munich eye shock move for Marcus Rashford

Quick Read

Rashford, 28, joined Barcelona on loan and has impressed during his time in Spain, with the Catalan club having the option to sign him permanently for £26 million this summer.

Marcus Rashford could return to Manchester United at the end of the season as FC Barcelona consider a move for Pedro Neto.

Rashford, 28, joined Barcelona on loan and has impressed during his time in Spain, with the Catalan club having the option to sign him permanently for £26 million this summer.

However, reports from Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo claim Barcelona are weighing up other options and have received “very positive technical reports” about Neto, who currently plays for Chelsea FC.

Neto, 26, joined Chelsea from Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2024 for about £54 million and has since been one of the club’s most consistent performers.

His versatility, being able to play on both wings, is said to appeal to Barcelona manager Hansi Flick. The Portuguese star is also represented by agent Jorge Mendes, who reportedly has a strong relationship with the Spanish club.

Rashford’s future at Barcelona could also depend on the outcome of the club’s presidential election scheduled for March 15.

Current president Joan Laporta is believed to favour signing the England forward permanently if he wins the election. However, rival candidate Victor Font, backed by former Barcelona star Xavi Hernandez, could take a different approach if elected.

Other candidates include Marc Ciria and Xavier Vilajoana, with talks reportedly ongoing about a possible coalition among Laporta’s challengers
