Kano: Police nab four suspects, recover stolen vehicles

Police said their operatives have arrested four suspected vehicle thieves and recovered four stolen vehicles in different operations in Kano State.
The arrests and recoveries were announced in a Statement by the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, signed on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Adamu Bakori.
Kiyawa described the operations as, “significant breakthroughs in the fight against vehicle theft, with the recovery of four stolen motor vehicles and the arrest of four suspects involved in the crimes.
” This achievement is a testament to the Command’s commitment to implementing the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, on sustained intelligence-led and technology-driven operations and investigation, as emphasized by the State Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, sfipma, mnim, mnips, masis.”
According to him, on March 7, 2026, the Command’s Anti-Car Theft Unit intercepted a Hyundai Elantra Motor Vehicle, dark blue in colour, at Naibawa Flyover Bridge, Kano, while being driven by Ibrahim Muhammad (29)of Minna, Niger State, and Ahmed Sani (32) of Abuja.
The vehicle was reportedly stolen in Abuja, and the suspects have confessed to the crime.
On March 9, 2026, the same unit arrested Abdulkarim Mamman, (30) of Malali Quarters, Kaduna, in possession of a Honda Civic Motor Vehicle, Ash in colour, at Kwanar Dawaki, Kano-Zaria Express Way.
The vehicle was recovered, and the suspect confessed to stealing it from Karkasara Quarters, Kano.
Furthermore, Yusuf Ali, (28) of Kaduna, was arrested in connection with a Toyota Corolla Motor Vehicle, silver in colour, stolen from Dutse, Jigawa State.
Additionally, a Nissan Sunny, white in colour, was recovered from the suspects, who had stolen it from a parking lot within Kano Metropolis.
The suspects are currently undergoing investigation, and upon completion, their cases will be charged to court.
Kiyawa further stated that: “The Kano State Police Command commends the IGP’s initiative and reaffirms its commitment to combating crime and ensuring public safety in the state.
“The Command also appreciates the public for their continued support and cooperation in the fight against crime, and urges citizens to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.”
