The result leaves City nine points behind league leaders Arsenal, who had earlier beaten Everton 2–0 with two late goals.
City, managed by Pep Guardiola, took the lead in the 31st minute through Bernardo Silva. The Portuguese midfielder’s cross from the left flank deceived goalkeeper Mads Hermansen and looped into the far corner.
However, West Ham responded quickly. Just four minutes later, defender Konstantinos Mavropanos headed home from close range after City goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma failed to deal with a corner delivered by Jarrod Bowen.

Substitutes Rayan Cherki and Jeremy Doku were introduced in the second half in an attempt to spark a late winner, but City could not break through the West Ham defence.

City now face a difficult run of fixtures, including a UEFA Champions League clash against Real Madrid, the League Cup final against Arsenal at Wembley, and an FA Cup quarter-final against Liverpool.
