Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, has broken his silence after rumours spread online claiming he had been killed in an Iranian strike.
Netanyahu dismissed the claims on Saturday by sharing a video of himself on X, joking about the viral conspiracy theories.
In the clip, the Israeli leader is seen at a café ordering coffee and laughing off the reports of his alleged death.
“I am dead… for coffee,” Netanyahu said, using a Hebrew phrase that means he loves something intensely.
“You know what? I’m ‘dying’ for my people. How they are behaving is fantastic,” he added.
The Prime Minister also raised both hands to the camera, displaying his fingers after online posts alleged that footage from a recent press conference showed him with six fingers on one hand — a claim some users said suggested the video was generated by artificial intelligence.
“Do you want to count my fingers? You can see them here… and here. See? Very nice,” Netanyahu said in the video.
In a message to Israeli citizens, he praised their resilience amid the ongoing conflict and urged them to remain alert.
“Go out and get some fresh air, but stay near a protected space,” he said.
“Your resilience is amazing. It gives strength to me, to the government, to the Israel Defense Forces and to the Mossad.”
Netanyahu added that Israeli forces were continuing to strike targets in Iran, though he declined to reveal operational details.
“We are doing things that I cannot say at this moment, but we are hitting Iran very hard, even today,” he said.
The rumours about Netanyahu’s death surfaced days after a statement from Iran’s powerful military wing, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, threatened to pursue and kill the Israeli leader.
“If this child-killing criminal is alive, we will continue to pursue and kill him with full force,” the group reportedly said.
The war between Israel and Iran has now entered its 16th day after tensions escalated following joint strikes by Israel and the United States on Iranian targets last month.
Those strikes killed Iran’s 86-year-old Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, triggering a broader conflict across the Middle East.
Iran has since launched attacks on Israeli territory and on U.S. military bases across the Gulf, while Israeli and American forces continue striking Iranian facilities.
The Pentagon says more than 15,000 targets have been hit across Iran since the fighting began.
