Just in: Passengers injured as Abuja-Kaduna train derails

Several passengers were confirmed injured on Monday after an Abuja-bound train en route to Kaduna derailed following a collision.

The Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation, Kayode Opeifa, confirmed the incident, saying the derailment occurred near Asham, Daily Post disclosed.

A video cited by PM News shows the derailed train with visible dents on the carriages, underscoring the impact of the collision.

Opeifa noted that, at the time of reporting, no fatalities had been recorded. The injured passengers have been transported back to Idu Train Station to receive medical attention.

He added that the NRC has launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the incident.

Authorities are urging passengers and commuters to remain calm while the inquiry continues.
