“I am deeply saddened by the explosions that occurred in parts of the metropolis on Monday evening. My thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims and those injured as a result of the blast,” Zulum said.

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State has condemned the explosion that rocked parts of Maiduguri on Monday evening, describing the incident as cruel and cowardly.

Zulum, who is currently in Saudi Arabia performing the Lesser Hajj, expressed sadness over the attack, noting that innocent residents were targeted during the holy month of Ramadan.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Dauda Iliya, the governor called on residents to remain vigilant and urged security agencies to intensify surveillance, particularly around places of worship and other public locations.

“I am deeply saddened by the explosions that occurred in parts of the metropolis on Monday evening. My thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims and those injured as a result of the blast,” Zulum said.

“The act is utterly condemnable, barbaric and inhumane,” he added.

The governor suggested that the recent rise in attacks could be linked to intensified military offensives against insurgents operating in Sambisa Forest and other hideouts in the region.

Despite the incident, Zulum assured residents that the military and other security agencies remain in control of the situation and are taking necessary steps to prevent further breaches.

He urged the people of the state to remain calm and continue with their lawful activities while cooperating with security agencies.

The governor also called on residents to promptly report any suspicious movement or activity in their communities to relevant authorities.

Zulum reiterated the state government’s commitment to working closely with security forces to safeguard lives and property across Borno State. (NAN)
