Basirat Damilola Marshall, the daughter of famous Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde Marshall, has announced that she will run for a seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly in 2027. She is contesting to represent Surulere Constituency II.
Marshall currently works as a Senior Special Assistant to the Lagos State Governor on Tourism, Arts, and Culture. She said she decided to run because she wants to speak for young people and make sure their concerns are heard in government.
In a message shared on social media, she encouraged young people to be bold, saying it is time for youth to take action.

Marshall also promised to focus on issues affecting young people if elected. She said she understands their struggles because she is also young and connected to them.
She added that she is ready to serve and provide strong leadership for the people of Surulere Constituency II.
