Why comedians are richer than musicians – Shank Comics

Popular skit maker and streamer, Shank Comics, has stirred reactions online after claiming that Nigerian comedians, Bovi Ugboma and Basketmouth, are wealthier than some of the country’s top Afrobeats stars.

Speaking during a recent livestream, Shank asserted that the duo surpass leading music acts such as Asake and Wizkid in terms of financial strength.

According to him, comedians tend to focus more on long-term wealth building rather than lavish spending, which he believes contributes to their financial stability.

“I feel like comedy money is more. I can swear to God, Bovi, Basketmouth, they’re richer than Asake,” he said.

Shank further explained that comedians often maintain modest lifestyles despite their wealth, unlike some musicians known for flaunting luxury items.

“Bovi doesn’t just like cars. If he sees a Lexus, he’s okay. All those Ferraris and high speed on the express, Bovi doesn’t care. Comedians care about their lives, that’s why,” he added.

Doubling down on his stance, the content creator insisted that both Bovi and Basketmouth are richer than Asake and Wizkid, noting that their priorities differ significantly from those of many music stars.

“I swear to God, Bovi and Basketmouth are richer than Asake and Wizkid, but they don’t focus on all those expensive things like Ferrari or Lamborghini. How much is Ferrari? How much is Lamborghini?” he said.
