Eid-el-Fitr: Police urge continued vigilance after peaceful celebration in Borno

Borno Commissioner of Police CP Naziru Abdulmajid has urged residents of the state to remain vigilant and security conscious as restriction placed on use of tricycles within Maiduguri elapses.
Abdulmajid said this while felicitations with the Muslim Ummah in Borno State and across the country on the celebration of Eid-el-Fitr.
The Police Commissioner in a statement by the Command’s spokesperson ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso on Friday also expressed his profound appreciation to the people of the State for their cooperation, understanding, and compliance with security measures put in place before and during the Sallah festivities.
He noted with satisfaction that Eid prayers were conducted peacefully across various designated praying grounds without any reported security breach or complaint.
Abdulmajid also commended officers and men of the Command, as well as other security agencies, for their professionalism, dedication, and effective deployment, which, according to him contributed significantly to the peaceful conduct of the Eid prayers.
“The Commissioner of Police further informs the public that the restriction on the movement of tricycles (Keke Napep) earlier imposed as part of security measures will elapse by 1200hrs (12:00 noon) today.
“Members of the public are enjoined to resume normal activities in an orderly and law-abiding manner.
“While wishing residents a joyful and peaceful Sallah celebration, the CP urges the public to remain vigilant and security conscious at all times, and to promptly report any suspicious movement or activity. He also cautions motorists against reckless driving, overloading, and other traffic violations that could endanger lives, emphasizing the need for adherence to traffic rules during and after the festive period.
“The Borno State Police Command reiterates its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents.
“As normalcy continues to prevail, the Command will provide regular updates to keep the public adequately informed'” the statement concluded.
Recall that the Id-el-Fitr celebration was held against the background of heightened security concerns following multiple bombings that claimed over 20 lives in Maiduguri, the state capital earlier in the week.
