Legendary American martial artist and actor, Chuck Norris, has died at the age of 86, his family has confirmed.
The family of the Walker, Texas Ranger star announced his passing in a statement shared on social media on Friday, revealing that he died peacefully surrounded by loved ones.
According to the statement, Norris had fallen ill on Thursday while on the Hawaiian island of Kauai.
“It is with heavy hearts that our family shares the sudden passing of our beloved Chuck Norris yesterday morning. While we would like to keep the circumstances private, please know that he was surrounded by his family and was at peace,” the statement read.
Describing his life and legacy, the family noted that Norris was more than a global icon, highlighting his role as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother.
“To the world, he was a martial artist, actor, and a symbol of strength. To us, he was the heart of our family,” they added.
Norris, who celebrated his 86th birthday just last week, was widely regarded as one of Hollywood’s most influential action stars, known for his toughness, discipline, and signature martial arts skills.
He rose to global fame after starring alongside Bruce Lee in the 1972 classic The Way of the Dragon, a film that featured one of the most iconic fight scenes in cinema history.
Over the years, he featured in several blockbuster action films, including Missing in Action, The Delta Force, and The Expendables 2. He also gained widespread popularity for his role in the long-running television series Walker, Texas Ranger.
Beyond acting, Norris was a highly accomplished martial artist, holding multiple black belts and winning six world karate championships.
His career in entertainment began with a cameo appearance in the 1968 film The Wrecking Crew, and he went on to build a decades-long legacy that inspired millions around the world.
Just days before his death, Norris shared a playful message on social media while celebrating his birthday, writing, “I don’t age. I level up.”
