Reality TV star and singer, Uriel Oputa, has addressed criticism over her single status, stating that she will not sacrifice her peace or well-being to meet societal expectations about marriage.
Oputa made this known in a post shared on her Instagram page, where she responded to a social media user who questioned why she is not yet married.
According to her, being married or having a husband does not define her identity, adding that she would rather remain single than enter a relationship that compromises her safety and happiness.
“Being married or having a husband does not define me. And if I were married right now, 100%, it would have been to the wrong person, someone for whom my safety was never a priority,” she wrote.
The reality star stressed that she is not in a rush to settle down and is focused on making intentional decisions that align with her values.
“I am not late, and I will never rush into anything that compromises my peace,” she added.
Uriel also encouraged women facing similar pressure to prioritize themselves and not feel behind in life for choosing personal growth over societal timelines.
She noted that while she has had relationships and remains open to love, she is careful about who she allows into her life.
“I’ve never been picky with men. I’ve dated, I’ve experienced, and I’ve kept an open mind. The only thing I have ever been protective of is my heart,” she said.
Describing herself as a romantic, Oputa said she loves deeply and intentionally, which is why she refuses to be in any relationship where she feels unappreciated or disrespected.
