Police Intercept Arms
The police in Ghana have intercepted arms and ammunition about to be smuggled into Nigeria.
The Greater Accra Regional Police Command on Tuesday arrested two persons in Accra for allegedly attempting to smuggle quantities of arms and ammunition to Nigeria.
According to Ghana web, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Rose Atinga Bio, Greater Accra Regional Police Commander confirmed the arrest and said the suspects were a Ghanaian and a Nigerian.
The police are investigating the matter.
President Goodluck Jonathan has been complaining about the proliferation of small arms in the West African sub-region, which has posed serious security challenges to governments in the region.
