The controversy began over the weekend when Baba Ijesha, who was recently released from prison after serving time for sexual assault-related offenses, appeared on Adebayo’s podcast, Talk to B.

Popular Nigerian actress and media personality Biola Adebayo has issued a public apology following a wave of intense criticism sparked by her recent interview with embattled actor Baba Ijesha.

The controversy began over the weekend when Baba Ijesha, who was recently released from prison after serving time for sexual assault-related offenses, appeared on Adebayo’s podcast, Talk to B.

During the sit-down, the actor maintained his innocence, alleging he was “set up” by comedienne Princess and claiming that actress Iyabo Ojo had previously trusted him with her children’s care.

The interview immediately drew fire from the public and advocacy groups. Critics, including followers of Iyabo Ojo and Princess, accused Adebayo of providing a platform to a convicted offender and inadvertently “enabling” child abuse.

By Tuesday evening, the outcry reached a fever pitch, prompting Adebayo to take down the interview video and address the public directly via her Instagram page.

In an emotional video, a visibly shaken Adebayo denied any intention of exonerating the actor or tarnishing the reputation of others involved in the case.

“I apologise to everyone. I’m very sorry, please forgive me. I will never support a rapist or pedophile,” Adebayo stated. “I thought I was just an interviewer… I thought he would apologise, but he did not do so.”
