Former Big Brother Naija star Uriel Oputa has spoken out strongly against the use of serious health conditions as a tool for online content, declaring that “cancer is not content.”

The reality star made the statement in a post on Instagram, reacting to recent social media discussions surrounding claims by relationship expert Blessing CEO, who alleged she had been diagnosed with “stage 4” illness.

Although Uriel did not mention any names directly, her comments came shortly after the controversial post sparked widespread reactions online, with many Nigerians questioning the authenticity of the claim.

In her post, Uriel emphasized the seriousness of cancer, revealing that the issue is deeply personal to her as her mother is currently battling breast cancer.

“I can’t believe we’re actually playing around with something like cancer,” she wrote, expressing concern over the lack of clarity surrounding the “stage 4” claim.

She added that while she sympathizes if the diagnosis is genuine, it would be disturbing if such claims were made for attention or engagement.

“If this is true, then my heart genuinely goes out to you… but if this is not true, then this is actually disturbing,” she stated.

Uriel further criticized the growing trend of sensationalism online, warning that certain topics, particularly life-threatening illnesses, should not be trivialized for clicks or publicity.
