The new Federal Capital Territory, FCT Commissioner of Police (CP) Ahmed Sanusi has vowed to leave no stone unturned in ensuring that criminal elements are identified, pursued and flushed out of the territory.

Sanusi said this during his maiden news conference on Wednesday in Abuja.

He pledged to consolidate on the foundation laid by his predecessor, Mr Miller Dantawaye who was recently promoted to the rank of an Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG).

“My focus is to consolidate the gains of predecessor while introducing strategic measures that will further enhance the security architecture of the (FCT).

“Many of you are familiar with my professional approach, I will attest to the fact that crime does not thrive where I serve.

“During my tenure, crime will have no place in the FCT, the command will be proactive, intelligence-driven, professional and relentless in its operation.

“We shall leave no stone unturned in ensuring that criminal elements are identified, pursued and flushed out of the FCT,” he said.

He said his approach would not only, respond to crime, but to deter and prevent it before it occurs.

“To the officers and men of the Police Command in the FCT, I make it clear that no form of indiscipline or unprofessional conduct will be tolerated.

“All personnel must remain civil in their interactions with members of the public and uphold the highest standards of professionalism in the discharge of their duties,” he said.

“I am fully committed to working round the clock and I expect the same level of commitment from all personnel of the command,” he said.

According to him, to those who have chosen the path of criminality, be advised that the FCT is no longer a safe haven for you.

He warned the criminals to desist from all forms of unlawful activities and exit the FCT, or be prepared to face the full weight and relentless arms of the law.

Sanusi said the command would not relent until every criminal element was brought to justice and urged the public to collaborate with the police.

He said security was a collective responsibility and that the command would not do it alone.

According to him, he will operate an open-door policy and will encourage the public to engage with us, share information and partner with us in safeguarding our communities.
