She disclosed that the fourth season would run for 130 episodes, airing daily on African Magic Showcase and African Magic Family, as part of efforts to deepen viewer engagement and expand accessibility across DStv and GOtv platforms.

The fourth season of Wura, a Showmax Original series, will premiere on March 30, with producers unveiling a deeper, more character-driven storyline and broader audience access.

The new instalment, produced by Rogers Ofime, was announced during a virtual press briefing on Wednesday, where stakeholders outlined plans to build on the success of previous seasons while introducing fresh narrative dimensions.

Atinuke Babatunde, Executive Head of Content and Channels for West Africa at MultiChoice, said the production continues to focus on culturally relevant storytelling that resonates with African audiences.

“So at its core, Wura is speaking to the things that we’re used to things like power, family, ambition, the consequences,” she said, noting that these themes have sustained audience interest.

She disclosed that the fourth season would run for 130 episodes, airing daily on African Magic Showcase and African Magic Family, as part of efforts to deepen viewer engagement and expand accessibility across DStv and GOtv platforms.

“We’re doing 130 episodes and airing every day to reinforce consistency in programming and deepen our viewers’ connection,” Babatunde said.

Screenwriter Musa Jeffery said the upcoming season would shift focus from external conflicts to the inner motivations of key characters, particularly the lead role.

“We’re looking at what makes a character tick, we want them to understand her,” he said, adding that the narrative would explore the theme of “nature versus nurture.”

According to him, the storyline would also introduce significant developments for other characters, including Tumi’s transition into an activist seeking justice, while Iyabo Kuti’s role evolves into that of a leader.

The production, partly filmed in rural mining communities, maintains high production standards and aims to deliver a more emotionally layered experience for viewers.

Lead actress Scarlet Gomez also indicated that her character, Wura Amoo-Adeleke, would face new challenges that alter her previously dominant persona.

“I think in this season, they get to see her in ways that they haven’t seen before. Now she becomes more emotional, more vulnerable,” she said.

She added that a key plot development, Wura’s discovery that Tumi is her daughter, would significantly influence the character’s trajectory.

With its expanded format and evolving storylines, the new season is expected to further strengthen the series’ connection with audiences while offering a more nuanced exploration of its central themes.
