Popular Nigerian comedian I Go Save has sparked fresh conversations online after voicing frustration over the rapid depletion of internet data in Nigeria, accusing service providers of exploiting subscribers.
In a video currently making the rounds on social media, the entertainer lamented that data plans marketed to last a full month often get exhausted within just a few hours or days, leaving many Nigerians stranded.
Expressing disbelief, I Go Save questioned how a one-month subscription could vanish so quickly, suggesting that internet users in the country are being unfairly charged.
“They just talk say I have subscribed for one month, e no even reach how many hours, the thing don finish. I download house? Nobody is even saying anything,” he said.
The comedian went further to allege that internet providers are defrauding Nigerians, especially those who struggle financially.
Drawing a comparison with international standards, he argued that data subscriptions abroad typically last for the full duration promised, unlike the situation in Nigeria.
In a dramatic appeal, I Go Save called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene, urging the government to prioritize addressing data-related challenges affecting citizens.
“Tinubu, is that you no dey use data? Your own no dey quick finish? Abroad, if they say one month, na one month. Nigeria own dey stay two days. Which kind wayo be all this?” he queried.
He added that the current situation is placing a heavy burden on Nigerians, calling for urgent action to regulate internet service providers and ensure fair billing practices.
