A man who previously stalked American singer Billie Eilish has been killed after he was struck by a train in the United States.
Prenell Rousseau, 30, died after he was hit by a Long Island Rail Road train in Westbury, New York, at about 5:38am on Wednesday.
Police said Rousseau was jogging near the tracks when the incident occurred, adding that his death is being treated as an accident.
Rousseau first came into public attention in 2020 after repeatedly showing up at Eilish’s Los Angeles home, prompting the singer and her family to seek a restraining order.
Court documents said he displayed erratic behaviour during multiple visits and was later arrested for trespassing.
During one of the incidents, Rousseau reportedly spoke with Eilish’s father, Patrick O’Connell, at the door and claimed he might have the wrong address, but returned again later the same day.
He was said to have visited the property several times over two days, at one point sitting on the porch reading a book and talking to himself while ignoring repeated requests to leave.
When security personnel arrived, he left but later returned again and hid behind a wall near the house.
Court filings also showed that Rousseau failed to observe COVID-19 precautions during the visits, repeatedly touching surfaces around the home without wearing a face mask, raising further concern for the family.
Eilish described the incidents as “frightening,” noting the distress it caused her and her family.
A court later granted a three-year restraining order against Rousseau, with a provision for extension if he attempted further contact.
