Protesters Destroy Jonathan’s Billboard

Protesters in their thousands took to the streets of Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, Southwest Nigeria, today and destroyed President Goodluck Jonathan’s big billboard erected at the Lagos motor park.

The protesters who arrived the motor park to listen to speeches by labour leaders and various groups at the rally, destroyed the billboard to express their anger over the removal of petrol subsidy.

Commercial activities were still at the lowest ebb in the ancient town as the strike was very successful.

The Ijebu monarch, Oba Dr. Sikiru Kayode Adetona, Ogbagba 2 was not available to attend to the protesters who had trooped to the palace along Awujale street.

The state NLC Chairman, Comrade Akeem Ambali and other labour leaders calmed down the irate protesters who wanted to destroy the entrance gate to the palace.

Mr Adeleke Adebayo, a native of Ijebu-Ode expressed shock over the development, adding that the monarch has to apologise to the people for avoiding them.
