“He was funny, honest and would just light up the room with his presence and that’s what we loved most about him.”

A 26-year-old man who was shot dead outside a major London station on Saturday has been formally identified as Nahom Medhanie.

His family have paid heartbreaking tribute to him.

Metropolitan Police were called to reports of gunshots at around 11pm on Chalton Street near Euston Station.

Despite the work of paramedics, the man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have continued the hunt for the alleged gunman.

A post-mortem was carried out on Tuesday, March 31.

Nahom’s family expressed their heartbreak in an emotional tribute. It said: “Nahom was more than a son and a brother to us and since his passing it has been the hardest days of our lives.

“He was funny, honest and would just light up the room with his presence and that’s what we loved most about him.”

CCTV footage showed that Nahom was shot several times while sitting in a white Nissan Juke by the suspect, who arrived and fled on a bike.

Investigators are carrying out enquiries as the gunman remains on the loose, with no arrests having been made.

Detective Chief Inspector Joanna Yorke, whose team is leading the investigation, said over the weekend: “We are aware of the concern that this will cause for the local community, and want to reassure them that we are working hard to identify the attacker and bring them to justice.

“If anyone has any information that could help us, it is extremely important that they contact the police – either through 101, online or via independent charity Crimestoppers to remain anonymous.

“Our thoughts are with the young man’s family at this incredibly difficult time.”
