Veteran media entrepreneur Mo Abudu, founder of EbonyLife TV, has opened up about leaving a stable career in the oil and gas sector at the age of 40 to pursue her passion in the media industry.

Speaking at a recent conference on career growth and personal development, Abudu described her decision as a calling.

β€œI left my stable 9‑to‑5 oil and gas job at 40 to follow mine. It was a really nice job and there was no reason to leave, but I knew God wanted me to do something else,” she told the audience.

Before transitioning into media, Abudu held senior roles in human resources and training at ExxonMobil, a position she performed with distinction.

Yet, despite the security and prestige, she felt compelled to step out of her comfort zone to create a broader impact.
