Seun Kuti speaks on sacrifice of African heroes, compares them with Jesus

Seun Kuti, a Nigerian artist and son to Afrobeats legend, Fela Kuti, has stirred up controversy by comparing the courage and sacrifice of African heroes with that of Jesus Christ.

The artist, while speaking in a video, lauded African heroes for their strength and courage in the face of oppression and corruption. He claimed that the religious sacrifice celebrated by Christians worldwide is not as great as the sacrifice of Lumumba, Sankara and his father, Fela Kuti.

Seun claimed that African heroes dies knowing they would not be resurrected, adding that Jesus knew he would be brought back to life after three days.

“The sacrifice of Lumumba is greater to me than the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ knew he was going to wake up after three days, but the people that died for me; Lumumba, Sankara, my father, Nkrumah, Steve Biko, these people died knowing they would never wake up, and they still died. They’ve dehumanized us for so long they believe we are all animals. We need to prove to them that we are humans. From today, no matter what they come with, stand your ground!,” he stated.
