80-year-old woman stabbed to death in London

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman in her 80s was stabbed to death outside her home in South London on Wednesday morning.
According to local media report, Met police officers were called at 8.50am to Red Lion Place, Plumstead, following information of a man carrying a knife.
Officers attended alongside paramedics from the London Ambulance Service and a woman in her 80s was found at the address with serious wounds.
The woman was taken to hospital where she sadly died. Another man was also threatened with a knife but did not sustain any injuries.
MyLondon reported that shortly after 9.10am, a man in his 60s presented himself at a nearby Met Police station where he was arrested on suspicion of murder.
He was taken to hospital by officers, where he is receiving treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.
At this stage, it is believed the person arrested and the deceased victim were known to each other. Officers are not looking for any further suspects.
The woman’s family are aware and are being supported by specialist officers.
Detective Inspector Dean Grice, who is leading on the Met’s investigation, said: “This is a deeply tragic incident, and our thoughts remain firmly with the victim’s family during this difficult time.
“Officers responded swiftly to the initial reports and worked closely with London Ambulance Service colleagues to provide immediate care at the scene.
“A prompt and coordinated investigation has now been launched to establish the full circumstances, and specialist officers are continuing to support the family throughout.”
