Blessing Aboy Chibuzor, the woman who married an autistic man, Aboy Chibuzor, at Omega Power Ministries in Port Harcourt on March 29, has explained why she turned down several suitors before accepting the unusual union.

The mother of three, who was previously married but lost her husband in a car crash, said she rejected multiple marriage proposals after making a personal vow to Jesus Christ to remain chaste until she was divinely given a husband.

Speaking during the church wedding, Blessing said her decision was rooted in faith and obedience to what she described as divine instruction.

“I am a very beautiful woman. People have been coming to me for marriage, but because I told Doctor Jesus, I will not defile my body till you give me my husband. If you do not give me, I will serve you. If you give me, I will serve you. It is a vow I made.

“And again, when that spirit told me, immediately I texted daddy. I also texted Mummy Welfare, and I told her, ‘Yes, I will be the one. I will pay that sacrifice. It is a sacrifice. It is a very big sacrifice. When I look at our Lord Jesus Christ, the sacrifice He paid on the cross of Calvary, nothing is too big for me to do the same for our Lord Jesus Christ.

“This guy, young man here, is a child of God and an adopted child of Daddy, our Daddy G.O. The spirit was just leading me, and I told Daddy I would do it. I will marry him, not only marry him, but I will take care of him as a son, as my king, as a husband, as a brother, because I know people will kick against it and say all manner of things, but I am after what the Lord Jesus sent me. I made a vow to God, any day I defile this body, let Him not spare my life for two seconds…” she said.

Blessing added that her decision was further strengthened by what she described as a spiritual prompting.

“I wanted to sleep, and the spirit of God woke me up and said, ‘My daughter, go and fulfil what I asked you to do.’ I was dragging, the spirit of God said, ‘Go.’”

Blessing hails from Irrua in Edo State, while her mother is from Kalabari.

Her explanation comes amid widespread criticism trailing the marriage, with some alleging that financial incentives influenced her decision.

A week before the wedding, the General Overseer of Omega Power Ministries, Apostle Chibuzor, had offered significant rewards to any woman willing to marry Aboy.

The package included a ₦10 million wedding gift, a house, and an overseas vacation for the couple. He also promised an additional ₦20 million after 10 years, provided Aboy is alive and the marriage remains intact.

Members of the church also contributed financially, with one donating ₦1 million and another ₦200,000 to support the couple.

Aboy was adopted years ago by the cleric after he was reportedly abandoned at the church gate.

Explaining his decision to arrange the marriage, Apostle Chibuzor said the move was partly driven by concerns over Aboy’s growing needs.

“I can’t throw him out on the street. So I have to start taking care of him all this time. But now he’s growing, he’s going to school, but his uncontrollable sexual urge is something that is a cause of worry,” he said.
