Singer Lizzo reveals age she lost her virginity

American singer and rapper Lizzo has revealed that she lost her virginity in her 30s, admitting that she had lied about her sexual experience for years.

The “About Damn Time” hitmaker made the disclosure during an appearance on the Friends Keep Secrets podcast, hosted by Benny Blanco, Lil Dicky, and Kristin Batalucco. She explained that she had pretended to be sexually active during her college days at the University of Houston to avoid embarrassment among friends.

“I promised myself when I was younger that I wouldn’t have sex until I won a Grammy,” Lizzo said. “I kept that pact for nearly two decades.”

The singer, now 37, bagged her first Grammy in 2020, winning three awards: Best Pop Solo Performance for Truth Hurts, Best Urban Contemporary Album (deluxe edition of Cuz I Love You), and Best Traditional R&B Performance for Jerome. She revealed that she had her first sexual experience shortly after achieving this milestone.

Lizzo also recalled her first kiss at age 21, describing it as “terrible” because it was forced. She said the delay in her romantic experiences was influenced by her religious upbringing, noting that she and her peers had made a pact to abstain from sexual activity before marriage.

On her current relationship, Lizzo said she has been dating Myke Wright since 2021. The couple first met in 2016 while hosting the MTV music series Wonderland, but there was no spark at the time.

Lizzo described opening up about her past on the podcast as “like a weight lifted off my chest,” admitting that she had carried the secret for years.
