Nigerian influencer Blessing CEO has addressed the controversy surrounding her public appeal for funds to cover cancer treatment.
The internet personality revealed that she was diagnosed with breast cancer in January and asked the public for financial support for her surgery. Some online users, however, questioned her motives, suggesting she might have misled people.
During an Instagram live session with radio host Daddy Freeze, Blessing explained that she sought early support to prepare financially, even though the exact cost of her procedure was not yet known.
She also disclosed that her surgery had been postponed due to the live session, and that additional medical tests and post-operative care would increase overall expenses, prompting her decision to request help in advance.
“I was diagnosed with cancer in January 2026. After the diagnosis, I began preparing for a mastectomy to determine how far the tumour has spread. The surgery was initially scheduled for last week but was postponed because of this live session with Daddy Freeze,” she said.
“I asked for financial assistance because I need funds for the surgery, even though I don’t yet know the exact cost. I was unclear about the full process until now. After the mastectomy, further tests are needed to ensure the cancer has not spread.
“Some people also said recovery can be very difficult, so asking for support early is my way of preparing, rather than reaching out during a more vulnerable moment.”
