Nigerian singer and songwriter Qing Madi has opened up about a shocking and humiliating experience that happened after her rise to fame, revealing how she was overcharged for a simple purchase at a pharmacy.
In a recent podcast, Qing Madi recounted that she was in a car with her parents when her father asked her to get down and buy a drug at a nearby pharmacy. What should have been a routine errand quickly turned into a surreal ordeal.
“When I got there, they started taking pictures of me,” she said. “To my shock, the drug that originally cost ₦2,000 was sold to me for ₦50,000. My dad got very angry and went back for them, but they denied it. I was so embarrassed because of everything, the photos, the overcharge.”
Qing Madi, professionally known for her 2022 hit “See Finish” and her 2023 follow-up “Ole” featuring Bnxn, shared the story as a humorous but cautionary tale about the pitfalls of sudden fame.
