Former Benue governor Samuel Ortom has denied speculations that he is gearing up to contest for a Senatorial seat in the 2027 general election.
Ortom made the clarification in a statement signed by Dr Terver Akase, his Media Adviser/Consultant on Saturday.
The former governor said he is not vying for any elective position in the 2027 general elections.
The denial followed claims in the social media that Ortom has declared his intention to contest for the Benue North-West Senatorial seat in 2027.
But Ortom said contrary to the claim, he has repeatedly said he will throw his hat into the ring for any position in the 2027 election.
“I have no intention whatsoever to contest any elective office in 2027. I have said this clearly, publicly, and repeatedly.
“I expect that a position stated this plainly would not require translation or creative reinterpretation,” he said.
The former governor emphasised his commitment to supporting democratic ideals, strengthening the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and offering statesmanlike guidance and not to chase elective office in 2027.
He urged the public to treat the report for what it is: “a fabrication”.
