The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has firmly dismissed a circulating malicious press release that falsely claims the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) has been postponed.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has firmly dismissed a circulating malicious press release that falsely claims the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) has been postponed.

In an official statement posted on its verified X account on Saturday, JAMB warned candidates and the general public that the document is fake and did not emanate from the Board.

“Our attention has been drawn to the malicious press release, stating that the 2026 UTME has been postponed. The general public, particularly the candidates, are by this notice informed that the press release is fake and did not emanate from us. Kindly disregard it,” the Board stated.

This latest alert comes amid heightened concerns over examination-related fraud targeting Nigerian students.

JAMB has been actively combating various forms of malpractice, including AI-driven syndicates attempting to impersonate officials and manipulate processes ahead of the main UTME.

The 2026 UTME registration closed in late February with no extensions granted, and the Board recently released results of the mock examination conducted on March 28.

Candidates are advised to remain focused on their preparation and rely solely on official communication channels from JAMB for any updates regarding the examination timetable.

The Board urged students to exercise caution against scammers who often exploit anxiety around high-stakes exams like the UTME to spread misinformation or offer fraudulent services, such as score inflation schemes.

Prospective candidates are encouraged to visit JAMB’s official website and verified social media platforms for accurate information.

The main 2026 UTME is expected to proceed as originally scheduled, with detailed timetables to be released in due course.
