The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has instructed the officers seen in a viral stop-and-search video in Lagos to report to the Police Headquarters in Abuja for disciplinary action.
The Force Public Relations Officer, Aliyu Giwa, said the officers involved in the incident at Satellite Town, Lagos, must appear on Wednesday to answer questions about their behavior.
The video, posted on Saturday by a social media user @ChuksEricE, shows officers stopping a vehicle, asking the occupants to get out, and searching one person separately.
Giwa said the directive shows the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to accountability and professional conduct. He reminded officers to stay disciplined, be careful, and respect citizens’ rights during their duties.
He assured the public that the Force is committed to discipline, justice, and integrity, and appropriate penalties will be applied depending on the outcome of the investigation.
