‘No Anointed Candidate’ – Ahmadu Fintiri speaks on 2027 succession

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has said he will not support any candidate to succeed him in the 2027 election.

He made this known during a meeting with key stakeholders at the Government House in Yola.

Fintiri explained that the people of Adamawa State will decide who becomes the next governor. He said no individual has the power to choose a leader for them.

He also advised those interested in running for governor to connect with the people and earn their votes through proper engagement.

The governor added that leadership in a democracy must come from the free choice of the citizens.

Fintiri further assured members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), especially those contesting for governor, that everyone will have a fair chance.

His statement helped calm concerns among party members after his recent move to the APC in February, which made him a key leader in the party in the state.

Before now, there were rumors that he wanted to influence who would succeed him.
