Lagos All Progressives Congress, APC gubernatorial aspirant, Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor has affirmed that he is still interested in the ticket of the party for 2027 election.
Adediran stated this in obvious response to wise speculations on the social media that incumbent Lagos deputy governor, Obafemi Hazmat has been endorsed as the gubernatorial candidate of APC for Lagos in the 2027 election by leaders of the party in the state.
But Adediran in a statement by his spokesperson, Gbenga Ogunleye described the reported that a preferred aspirant has been anointed for APC ahead of the 2027 Lagos governorship election as untrue.
He said the leaders of the party in the state have not confirmed such endorsement.
‘We restate, in line with the official position of the Lagos State APC leadership as communicated by the State Chairman, that no aspirant has been anointed and that all aspirants will participate in a credible primary election,’ Adediran said.
He added that as such, he is preparing to participate in the primary election where the APC governorship candidate for 2027 election will emerge.
“Dr. Adediran is firmly committed to this process and is preparing accordingly, engaging party members and strengthening his grassroots structures,” Ogunleye said in the statement.
But he added that he is ready to abide by the party’s position on the issue, especially if it is the wish of the leader of the party.
‘At the same time, he remains guided by party discipline. Should our leader and the leadership resolve to adopt a consensus candidacy, JANDOR will fully align with that decision, irrespective of who emerges.
“This is a position anchored on his readiness to compete, and a willingness to submit to the collective will of the party.
“JANDOR urges party members not to mistake a campaign by an individual or a political group for their choice aspirant as the party position or that of our Leader.
“When the party and our Leader speak, I am sure no one will do otherwise,” he said.
