Legendary singer Asha Bhosle dies at 92

Legendary singer and playback icon, Asha Bhosle, died on Sunday in Mumbai, the INDIA TODAY has reported.

Bhosle had been admitted to hospital due to extreme exhaustion and a chest infection, according to her granddaughter Zanai Bhosle.

She died at Mumbai hospital after multiple organ failure.

Bhosle was one of Indian cinema’s most versatile voices. Her decades-long journey reshaped playback singing, leaving behind a legacy that continues to echo across generations.

Her career spanned decades, genres, and generations without ever seeming to chase trends.

Born in 1933 in Sangli, Maharashtra, into a family deeply rooted in music, she was the daughter of theatre actor and classical singer Deenanath Mangeshkar and the younger sister of the late legendary singer, Lata Mangeshkar.

From early on, she faced the weight of legacy but also owned the determination to create her own space.
