A political group called the G37 Political Support Group has asked Nigerians to support the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Joash Amupitan.
The group said people should avoid distractions that could affect the work of the electoral body.
Speaking to journalists in Abuja on Sunday, the group’s National Coordinator, Prince Evans City, said it is important for Nigerians to trust INEC. He explained that the commission plays a key role in protecting Nigeria’s democracy by organizing free, fair, and credible elections.
He warned that constant criticism and unproven allegations against the INEC Chairman could reduce public trust and distract the commission from doing its job.
He said Nigerians should stay focused and support INEC’s leadership instead of creating tension.
Prince City also praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for creating an environment where political parties can operate freely without interference. He said this helps to strengthen democracy and promote inclusion in the political system.
The group also advised politicians and other stakeholders to act responsibly and use legal means to address any complaints.
It stressed that a stable electoral system is important for the country’s growth and development.
