The Lagos State Police Command has launched a high-priority investigation following the fatal shooting of Adedipe Adeyinkan, a well-known figure popularly referred to as “Agali.”

The incident, which occurred late Saturday night on the National Stadium Bridge, has sent shockwaves through the local community and social media circles.

According to official reports, the shooting took place at approximately 11:30 pm on April 11, 2026, as the victim was traveling inward toward Iponri.

While the specific details regarding the assailants or the motive remain murky, the brazen nature of the attack on a major Lagos artery has raised immediate concerns regarding nighttime security in the Surulere axis.

Following the gunfire, first responders and witnesses rushed Adeyinkan to the Mainland General Hospital in Yaba. Despite efforts to stabilize him, medical personnel confirmed his passing shortly after arrival.

The Lagos State Police Command addressed the incident via a public statement on Sunday, confirming the victim’s identity and the location of the attack.

“The Command is aware of the shooting incident involving Adedipe Adeyinkan, popularly known as ‘Agali’.  The victim was rushed to Mainland General Hospital, Yaba, where he was confirmed dead,” the police stated.

As of Sunday afternoon, the police have not named any suspects or confirmed if the shooting was a targeted assassination or a botched robbery.

The Command has assured the public that a thorough investigation is ongoing to “ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident” and bring those responsible to book.
