Iran’s armed forces have declared that the U.S. blockade of Iranian ports is “illegal and amounts to piracy,” warning that any threat to the security of its ports will put all vessels in the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman at risk.

Iran’s armed forces have declared that the U.S. blockade of Iranian ports is “illegal and amounts to piracy,” warning that any threat to the security of its ports will put all vessels in the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman at risk.

The statement, issued Monday by the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters via state media IRIB and Tasnim News Agency, outlined a “permanent mechanism” to control the Strait of Hormuz, even after the war ends.

“The security of ports in the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman is either for everyone or for no one,” the statement said. “If the security of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s ports is threatened, no port in the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman will be safe.”

Iran confirmed that existing restrictions in the Strait of Hormuz will continue permanently. “Enemy-affiliated vessels do not and will not have the right to pass through the strait,” the statement added, noting that other ships may continue passage only if they comply with Iranian armed forces regulations.

The armed forces emphasized that defending Iran’s territorial waters is a “natural and legal duty” and reaffirmed that the country will implement decisive measures to secure its ports and national interests.
