Emerging R&B, Soul, and Afrobeats artist TMJ delivered a compelling live performance at the “Music of Hope & Love” charity event hosted by PILGRIM – Newcastle in collaboration with Show Racism the Red Card, one of the United Kingdom’s most respected anti-racism organisations.
Held on August 1, 2025, the event formed part of a wider fundraising initiative aimed at promoting unity, inclusion, and social justice through music. The evening brought together a diverse lineup of performers and a vibrant audience, all in support of a cause that continues to resonate across communities in the UK and beyond.
TMJ, positioned as a central act of the night, took to the stage for the middle set, where he delivered an emotionally resonant and musically rich performance. Blending smooth R&B textures with soul and Afrobeats influences, he captivated the audience with renditions of his songs “Yawa” and “Storyteller.” His stage presence, vocal control, and ability to connect with the audience marked a defining moment in the evening’s programme.
The event also featured performances from No Top Button, a dynamic four-piece band from the North East known for their energetic pop rock sound, as well as Solidarity, the venue’s in house soul and indie ensemble, who set the tone for the night with a rich and engaging opening performance.
Hosted at the well regarded Newcastle venue, PILGRIM, the event attracted a diverse audience and reinforced the role of live music as a powerful tool for advocacy and cultural connection. Proceeds from the evening were donated entirely to Show Racism the Red Card, underscoring the commitment of both organisers and performers to meaningful social impact.
TMJ’s performance stood out not only for its artistic quality but also for its alignment with the event’s core message, using music as a platform for storytelling, unity, and change. As an artist steadily gaining recognition, his inclusion in such a purpose driven and culturally significant event reflects both his growing influence and his commitment to impactful artistry.
With performances like this, TMJ continues to establish himself as a compelling voice within the UK’s evolving R&B and Afrobeats scene, an artist whose work resonates both on stage and within the wider cultural conversation.
