The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has disbursed the Super Eagles’ share of the prize money earned at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.
Nigeria secured a third-place finish at the tournament, defeating Egypt on penalties, and in line with a prior agreement, the NFF allocated 30 per cent of the team’s prize earnings to the players.
The Super Eagles received $2.5 million (equivalent of N3.36 billion) for reaching the semi-finals, with eventual champions awarded a record $10 million.
From this allocation, each player in the squad reportedly earned $15,000 (equivalent of N20,655,000) as their individual share.
A senior official confirmed the payment, stating that the team had received the agreed without delay.
The disbursement follows Nigeria’s strong showing at the tournament, despite missing out on qualification for the FIFA World Cup.
Attention now shifts to upcoming international engagements, with the Super Eagles set to reconvene in late May 2026 to defend their Unity Cup title in London. They are scheduled to face Jamaica, Zimbabwe and India in the competition.
In addition, the three-time African champions will play friendly matches against Portugal and Poland in June as part of preparations for future competitions.
