Fuji music star, Saheed Osupa, has stirred controversy after a viral video showed him taking subtle jabs at Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, during a political event ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
The incident occurred on April 17, 2026, at the declaration of Senator Sharafadeen Alli’s governorship ambition in Yemetu, Ibadan. Alli, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), formally declared his intention to contest before supporters and party loyalists.
Osupa, who was invited to perform at the event, used the opportunity to deliver a politically charged performance, expressing support for Alli while criticising the idea of “Omituntun 3.0,” a slogan associated with the Makinde administration under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
During his performance, he dismissed the political slogan, suggesting it had not translated into sufficient delivery for the people of Oyo State.
In a Yoruba remark that drew strong reactions from the crowd, Osupa referred to Makinde as “onijibiti,” a term widely interpreted as a pointed insult.
He also urged attendees not to support any candidate backed by the governor, while openly endorsing Sharafadeen Alli as his preferred choice for the 2027 governorship race.
